At 150X magnification, this photomicrograph of eosin and light green–stained liver tissue from a greater mouse-eared bat, Myotis myotis, captured in Israel, shows histopathologic changes associated with histoplasmosis caused by Histoplasma capsulatum. Clusters of atypical H. capsulatum cells, referred to as ‘bizarre forms’, with variable size and morphology are visible.
