This historic image from October 1974, captured during the Indian Smallpox Eradication Campaign, shows a close view of a patient’s distal right arm and hand, as well as portions of the torso and upper right thigh, with characteristic smallpox lesions. The photograph was taken in the village of Sirauli at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Daryabad, then one of the last smallpox-affected villages in the Barabanki district.
