This image shows a close view of the rear feet of a mouse infected with the fungal organism Lacazia loboi, formerly known as Loboa loboi. This condition, referred to as dolphin-associated lobomycosis, reflects the organism’s original identification in dolphins. At the time of this image, the pathogen had undergone three serial passages in mice.
