Captured in a laboratory environment, this historic image depicted the right hand of a laboratory technician that was holding a tweezers, which was used to secure a gauze pad that had been soaked in alcohol, then used to swab the exterior surface of a chicken egg, prior to its inoculation. The beaker on the left contained a solution of 70% alcohol, in which additional gauze pads were soaking.
