Lee Hunter, DVM, MPH, standing in his office while holding an award presented on behalf of the former Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (DHEW) in recognition of his contributions to the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR). The award also acknowledges Dr. Hunter’s co-development of the SAD/SA/C Calculator, a circular slide-rule device used in the formulation of insecticides, rodenticides, and pesticides (see PHIL 23395 and 23396). One of these circular calculators is visible on the desk in front of him.
