Captured in Washington, D.C., in 1964, this image depicts Dr. Harry D. Pratt, standing at center, as he receives the Gorgas Medal for his leadership in the control of mosquitoes and other disease-carrying insects and animals. He was selected by the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS), now known as The Society of Federal Health Professionals, in recognition of his contributions to preventive medicine. The award is presented by Colonel Robert C. Kimberly, former President of AMSUS, at left, and Dr. George Farrar, Jr., of Wyeth Laboratories, Philadelphia.
