This image was captured May 28, 1962, inside the Communicable Disease Center’s (CDC) Auditorium, which was situated inside the former Building 1 on the Center’s Roybal Campus Headquarters, in Metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. The scene depicted an award presentation, whereupon CDC employee Helen W. Adams was receiving her 20-Year Award from former CDC Director Theodore J. Bauer, MD on the left. The U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Officer on the right was unidentified.
