This image depicts a close dorsal view of a western bat bug, Cimex pilosellus, collected on June 30, 2024, in a remote cabin located approximately 17 km northeast of Durango in La Plata County, Colorado. The specimen was one of three dead western bat bugs recovered from a dustpan in a bedroom. An active bat roost was present in the cabin chimney. Occupants reported no bites, and no bat bugs were found in the bed. The specimen was collected by Research Assistant Zane Holditch and photographed at 150X magnification by Graduate Teaching Assistant Joely Corrales using a Keyence digital microscope.
