Captured between April 30 and May 11, 1956, this historic photograph shows a group portrait of instructors and attendees of the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) training course entitled "Management and Control of Syphilis Serology." The course was sponsored by an unspecified Regional Syphilis Laboratory. Several members of the Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) staff have been identified. Standing in the back row, first on the left is bacteriologist Hilfred N. Bossak, BS; second from the left is bacteriologist Virginia H. Falcone; fourth from the left is bacteriologist Genevieve W. Stout, MA; fifth from the left is Deputy Director Ad Harris; and standing at the far right is bacteriologist Alwilda L. Wallace, MS.
