Standing at the front of the classroom is U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Captain Harold G. Scott, PhD, who is discussing an instructional display depicting the female and male black widow spider, Latrodectus mactans, and the characteristic abdominal markings used to distinguish the two sexes. This class is taking place inside the CDC's former headquarters building at Seventh and Peachtree Streets in Atlanta, Georgia.
