This historic photograph, captured on March 19, 1959, provides a view of the construction of what would become the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) headquarters campus on Clifton Road, adjacent to Emory University in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. These five men are shown installing the Building 1 cornerstone, inscribed with the words, “United States of America, Dwight D. Eisenhower, President, 1958.”
