Captured in 1978, this historic photograph shows Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer Richard A. Goodman, MD, JD, MPH, a member of the EIS Class of 1978. Following completion of the EIS program, Dr. Goodman continued a long career at CDC, where he served in numerous scientific and leadership positions, including Editor-in-Chief of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Series, and Associate Director of the Epidemiology Program Office. Later became a founding Co-Director of CDC’s Public Health Law Program.
