Captured in 1978, this historic photograph shows Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer Mary K. Serdula, MD, MPH, a member of the EIS Class of 1978. During her early career at CDC, Dr. Serdula worked in infectious disease epidemiology, including rubella surveillance and prevention. She later continued her career in nutrition and chronic disease epidemiology, ultimately serving as Chief of CDC’s Chronic Disease Nutrition Branch.
