Captured in 1978, this historic photograph shows Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer John P. M. Lofgren, MD, a member of the EIS Class of 1978. During his EIS service, Dr. Lofgren served as Arkansas State Epidemiologist, where his work included communicable and foodborne disease investigations. He later continued his career in public health and ultimately served as Alabama State Epidemiologist, with work encompassing infectious disease and environmental and occupational epidemiology.
