Captured on February 12, 1964, this historic photograph shows Centers for Disease Control (CDC) laboratory technician Steve Holden performing the preliminary sorting of mosquitoes into pools prior to identification. Following identification, the pooled mosquitoes would be inoculated into mice in an effort to isolate any arboviruses present.
