Captured in 1974, this historic portrait shows Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer Andrew G. Dean, MD, MPH, a member of the EIS Class of 1974. Following his EIS service, Dr. Dean continued his career in public health, including service as Minnesota State Epidemiologist. He later returned to CDC, where he became a principal developer of Epi Info, a computer software package designed to assist epidemiologists with data collection, analysis, and outbreak investigations, and continued his work in public health surveillance and informatics.
