This historic portrait from 1985 depicts James S. Marks, MD, MPH, a member of the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Class of 1976. Dr. Marks went on to have a distinguished career at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), where he served in a number of scientific and leadership positions, including Director of the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, focusing on the prevention and control of chronic diseases and the promotion of population health.
