Caption:
This photograph depicts an anterior view of the genital and inguinal regions of a male patient with ulcerative lesions involving the penis and left inguinal region. Following differential diagnostic evaluation, the condition was diagnosed as chancroid, a sexually transmitted infection caused by the Gram-negative bacterium Haemophilus ducreyi. Chancroid lesions typically begin as tender papules that may progress to pustules and subsequently form painful ulcers with irregular, undermined, or ragged margins. Regional inguinal lymphadenopathy may also develop and can progress to suppurative buboes.
