Caption:
Captured on May 7, 1965, this historic photograph depicts three men working inside the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) Automatic Data Processing Unit. Billy Golden, David Conrad, and Lanier Crowe are collating and archiving various forms of data transmitted from throughout the CDC. Based on its apparent function, the unit likely handled punched-card and early electronic data-processing operations supporting CDC administration, epidemiological statistics, records, reporting, and information retrieval.
