Caption:
This image depicts a close anterior view of a patient's right inguinal region, revealing the presence of a necrotic swollen lymph node, referred to as a bubo, which had been the result of a disease known as chancroid, caused by the Gram-negative bacterium, Haemophilus ducreyi. The first sign of infection is usually the appearance of one or more sores, or raised bumps on the genital organs, that are surrounded by a narrow red border. These sores soon become filled with pus, and eventually ruptures, leaving a painful open wound.
