This adult patient presented with scorbutic gums, due to a vitamin C deficiency, a symptom of scurvy. Note the swelling and inflammation of the gingival interdental papillae, i.e., gum tissue between the teeth. See PHIL 19449, for another view of this patient’s inflamed gums.
