Caption:
Captured in 1969, this photograph depicts the upper back of a chickenpox patient, showing you that many pocks were present on the back, but only a few had developed on his arms. Generally speaking, the rash produced by chickenpox is concentrated more so over the patient’s face, torso, and proximal extremities, whereas, the rash produced by smallpox, is concentrated to a greater degree on the patient’s face and distal extremities.
