This image was acquired in 1967, in Nigeria, during the country’s Smallpox Eradication Program. The photograph depicts the Emir of Kaduna, Nigeria, receiving a vaccination, as the man wearing glasses in the background, University of Rochester, Medical School graduate, Dean Hutchins, MD, observed this activity. Subcutaneous injections via the Ped-O-Jet® jet injector, delivered vaccine more efficiently than traditional methods of vaccination.
