Caption:
This photograph depicts the fifth of seven steps (PHIL 5731-5737) to be followed when one doffs disposable sterile gloves. At this point, the left hand had been degloved, and was then used to remove the right glove, which had been turned inside out, concealing the left glove inside. This keeps all contaminants on both gloves inside the right glove. Latex, vinyl or nitrile gloves reduce hand contamination, prevent cross-contamination, and protect against infection. Gloves should not restrict movement, must accommodate individuals (i.e., allergies), and meet the requirements of the task to be performed.
