This example of a Giemsa stained slide preparation revealed what had been categorized a marginal quality slide. Both the pH of a fixed slide, and the pH of the Giemsa stain, are extremely influential over the resultant coloration of a given slide. Acidic environments will yield a pinker slide, while basic, or alkaline environments yield bluer results.
