Under a magnification of 500X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural features displayed by an egg from a Schistosoma haematobium trematode parasite. Note the egg's posterior protruding spine, unlike the spinal remnant, which protrudes from the lateral wall of Schistosoma japonicum eggs.
