This historic photograph depicted one of the steps involved, when performing a mammogram. The image was created for use in a public health awareness campaign. This scenario demonstrated one of the ways in which public health workers can help to control and prevent the onset chronic diseases, including breast cancer. It also illustrated the technically sophisticated equipment the modern public health professional has at his/her disposal.
