This historic photograph depicted the former Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Director, David J. Sencer, MD, MPH, during his Directorship. This scenario took place inside the Director’s office, as he was pointing to a piece of artwork depicting what appear to be Triatomine sp. insects, also known as kissing bugs, which transmit Chagas disease, also referred to as American trypanosomiasis. Dr. Sencer held the CDC Director’s position from 1966 until 1977.
