The woman depicted here, in this 2006 photograph, was shown receiving an intramuscular injection being administered by a qualified nurse. The nurse had chosen the woman’s left shoulder muscle as the injection site, and was using her left hand to stabilize the area. Awaiting his turn as a vaccine recipient, the woman’s husband watched from behind.
