Available Charts

The following data sets are available from BLS to chart. Select the "Create Charts" button to access the charting tool.

All Nonfatal Injuries & Illnesses
Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII)

All Nonfatal Injuries & Illnesses charts are based on the BLS Survey of Occupational Illnesses and Injuries (SOII) that collects work-related injury and illness data annually from approximately 200,000 private industry and public sector establishments. SOII excludes all work-related fatalities as well as nonfatal work injuries and illnesses to the self-employed; to workers on farms with 10 or fewer employees; to private household workers; to volunteers; and to federal government workers.

Fatal Injuries
Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI)

Fatal Injury charts are based on the BLS Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI). CFOI uses multiple sources to identify, verify, and profile fatal worker injuries. Information about each workplace fatal injury is obtained by cross referencing the source records, such as death certificates, workers' compensation reports, and Federal and State agency administrative reports.

Severe Nonfatal Injuries & Illnesses (2014-2020)
Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII)

Severe Nonfatal Injuries & Illnesses charts are based on the Days Away From Work subset of the BLS Survey of Occupational Illnesses and Injuries (SOII) where the severity of the injuries and illnesses required days away from work to recuperate. See All Nonfatal Injuries & Illnesses for charts based on all injuries and illnesses.

Workforce Population
Current Population Survey (CPS)

Workforce Population charts are based on the CPS Labor Force Statistics database. This database contains aggregated survey responses that reflect the civilian noninstitutional population. This population excludes people serving in the Armed Forces, and people living in institutions such as residential nursing and care facilities and correctional institutions. Only persons age 16 and over that are classified as in the labor force are included in the charts.
